Project Background

Far Data, in partnership with Apanet, implemented an intelligent lighting system along the A1 Highway in Poland.
The project aimed to enhance road safety and reduce energy consumption in high-traffic areas by dynamically adjusting lighting based on real-time traffic and weather data using e-CON controllers and SmartSensor HD radars.

Solution

Far Data delivered e-CON multicontrollers integrated with 10 SmartSensor HD radars to enable real-time, trafficresponsive lighting control. The system automatically adjusts light intensity based on live traffic data, using open communication protocols such as MODBUS and GSM, and supports full remote monitoring and configuration.

Results

The intelligent lighting system on the A1 motorway significantly reduced energy consumption while improving safety. Light intensity automatically adjusts to traffic and weather conditions, ensuring optimal visibility when needed and minimizing power usage during low-traffic periods. The solution demonstrates how ITS technologies can drive sustainability and efficiency in road infrastructure.
