Mobile Environmental Monitoring for Cities and Research
Project Background
Several Polish cities and institutions — including Warsaw,
Wrocław, and the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental
Protection — sought a flexible solution for monitoring air
quality and noise in high-traffic and industrial areas.
Traditional fixed stations lacked mobility and adaptability,
prompting the need for a more versatile approach.

Project Overview
To address this issue, Far Data Sp. z o.o. delivered a fleet of mobile
monitoring platforms built on CARGO-type trailers. Each platform was
equipped with:
- a pneumatic telescopic mast adjustable from 2 to 11 meters,
- a radar for automatic traffic volume measurement,
- stations for air quality and noise monitoring,
- meteorological sensors,
- video cameras,
- and a battery-powered energy system with onboard charger for autonomous operation.
Challenges and Solutions
- Warsaw and Wrocław
Enabled hotspot monitoring and supported acoustic map development
in large urban areas. - Stalowa Wola and Mielec
Facilitated air quality monitoring near industrial sites to support local
decision-making. - Environmental Protection Inspectorates (GIOÅš/WIOÅš)
Provided flexible, on-demand monitoring across multiple regions. - Cracow University of Technology
Used as a research and teaching tool with real-time environmental
data access.
